Chair pads have basically two functions. One of design, the other of comfort. Perhaps one of the simplest and most important inventions for the home decorator, you can find chair pads in almost every dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and office. Imagine centuries of wooden chairs without a cushion or padding; what did people do back then? No wonder they died young.
Many chairs nowadays have the cushion built in to the chair framework itself; think of every sofa, office swivel chairs, recliners, etc. Even wooden dining room chairs often have their cushions sewn into the frame. Yet your typical rocking chair or wooden kitchen chair may be left bare. Save yourself, your family, and your guests tremendous ache by investing in chair pads. There's no excuse. Chair pad cushions are made in all shapes; square, circle, oval, rectangle. They are sewn from all types of fabrics; suede, leather, linen, cotton, other synthetics. The patterns, styles, and colors vary right along with the shapes and fabrics. Chair pad cushions usually have ties for slat back chairs, or you can buy "no slip" chair cushions that completely erase the annoyance of pads moving out of place.
Aside from basic comfort, chair pads can actually offer much needed upper and lower back support. Some people simply cannot sit on a chair without a cushion or padding. You can easily add beautiful chair cushions designed to make chiropractors proud. Your kitchen chair set won't look like an orthopedics office, but you won't have to worry about your family being uncomfortable.
